Pressure Monitored Pipetting (PMP)

PMP monitors and analyzes pipetting for improved security

The Pressure Monitored Pipetting (PMP) tool is an additional safety option, specifically validated for clinical applications using serum and/or aqueous solutions. Using the PMP, pipetting quality is analyzed online for both aspiration and dispensations. Also faults including clots, air aspiration, not dispensed samples or system leakage can be detected.

The PMP detects errors by comparing recorded and real-time-simulated pipetting pressure signals.
Pressure simulation relies on fluidics, user-defined parameters, such as sample type and pipetting volume, and dynamic fitting of sample type and system specific variations, for example, in sample viscosity and other liquid properties. The measuring data are stored for later analysis, offering sample traceability and considerably increased process security.

Optimized parameters have been validated and fixed for serum and water, allowing fast PMP installation and set-up, and no need for recalibration. The PMP is able to detect the liquid level of conductive and non-conductive liquids, such as organic solvents, with pressure Liquid Level Detection (pLLD).

The PMP highlights are:

  • Detects pipetting faults like clots, air aspiration and incorrectly dispensed samples
  • Optimized validated parameters for serum and aqueous liquids
  • Fast installation and set-up
  • Detects the liquid level of conductive and non-conductive liquids
