Since its foundation 30 years ago as a pioneering company in liquid handling, Tecan has seen rapid international growth through innovation, mergers and acquisitions, and has succeeded in overcoming the challenges encountered in managing and financing this growth.

When I first joined Tecan in 2005, I established a clear strategy for growth and innovation for the next decade and beyond, implementing some management concepts already proven in other industries, like investment goods and the automotive supply industry. These measures were focused on operational excellence, organization of the Tecan Group, as well as internal transparency and efficiency. In addition, we worked hard to define the strategy for future growth and to strengthen our quality and innovation leadership. The foundation has now been put in place and we are well on track to accelerating growth and innovation in the years to come.

Tecan’s strength continues to lie in its broad and continuous history of innovation. Looking ahead, we have ambitious goals to drive the stream of innovations forward to help our customers further enhance their processes, and have already expanded our global footprint and strengthened our frontline service

organizations. We want to further strengthen our core business in life science research, forensics and diagnostics as well as in select applied markets. We have already developed many strong partnerships with instrumentation, reagent and technology companies, and academic institutions, as well as our OEM partners. There is a clear overall trend towards integration of different instruments into one complete workflow solution, and the partnerships are working on co-development and co-validation of system solutions that are relevant to the laboratories of the present and future.

By being keen scientists ourselves, we learn from our customers and share in their passion, using our expertise to provide solutions for a broad range of workflows.
